Steps to Reading Success

Talking is a language - reading is a language. Most first graders have already acquired a knowledge and use of the spoken language in response to auditory stimuli. They learned to talk by hearing others talk. The visual stimulus of abstract symbols, however, is the challenge that must be faced in order to acquire necessary skills for mastering the written language.

All that to say there is a beginning step in learning to read, and many miss those important steps. It's not impossible to catch up and excel in reading.
